baby alexander…

On the 27th March, I went into labour ward to be induced due to gestational diabetes. 5 hours later I was experiencing hyper stimulation (my uterus was contracting almost every 2 minutes but nothing was progressing ). I was struggling to remember my hypnobirthing techniques as it was so intense. With the help of my partner Alistair I began to use my up breathing and the visualisations and my birth went from one that was getting the better of me, to one where I was in control.

Throughout my birth I felt elated, I knew it was down to the way in which Victoria had taught me to take control of my breathing and therefor my birth.

The power of positivity is so important even when your birth doesn’t go down the water birth route you’d always planned.

I ended up with a forceps and an episiotomy due to complications, and whilst this was a challenging recovery, I felt on top of the world throughout the experience, knowing I was able to calmly approach any challenges.

Victoria’s teaching about using visualisations during labour helped me through the induction. After implementing the techniques she taught me, I took back control of my birth and had a wonderful and positive experience despite challenges. I look back on my birth with happiness and knowledge that the preparation we did together helped my child to enter the world calmly.
